One of the many benefits of sharing your life with a cat (aside from the fact that they’re awesome) is that they are more flexible to care for than a dog. While that it is true that cats are definitely more independent than dogs, it doesn’t mean that they don’t require care while you’re away!
Many well meaning cat owners leave their cats alone for days at a time because belief if they can fill up their food and water to an adequate amount their feline friend will be just fine. Here’s why you should rethink this if you’re one of those cat owners:
- Many cats find comfort in having someone around. Even cats who tend to be more on the shy side can benefit from knowing someone is stopping in every day to check on them
- Cats can get stuck in very peculiar places – we’ve had clients find their cats in the duct work of their house, behind dry wall and even accidentally locked themselves into a room. If left for days alone, a situation can become much more dangerous or fatal than it would’ve been if someone had stopped in to check on them
- Food and water can be knocked over on accident leaving your cat without basic necessities until you return home
- No one likes to clean 3-4 days worth of cat litter out of the box when they just return home from vacation. Keeping a clean litter box is healthier for you and your cat(s) and certainly less of a hassle for you
You can book cat sitting anywhere from twice a day to every other day depending on your cat’s individual needs. You’ll be able to travel with peace of mind knowing that your cat is being cared for and you cat will thank you for the companionship and regular care they received while you were away!
